The Weyburn Police Service in the early hours of last Monday responded to reports of an alarm going off at a large commercial building on the west side of the city.

"We went and checked out the property. There was no one there," shared Constable Dallas Austin. "Police kept a watch on the property from a distance and that's when we observed individuals walking back to the building."

He said the officers who stayed back and watched then arrested and charged an individual with break-and-enter to the property, and possession of break-and-enter instruments.

"Sometimes typically they'll wait and watch, see if we stay or if we go. In this particular situation, it was really good that our officers ended up staying back from a distance and watching," explained Austin, "So we were able to catch the guys that were involved in this."

He added the break-in instruments were simple tools and were not high-tech.
