St. Patrick’s Community School, Red Deer Catholic Regional School’s (RDCRS) sole year-round school, is welcoming 616 students back for another academic year beginning today (Aug. 8).

The year-round education model is designed to offer students an engaging learning experience throughout the year. With more frequent breaks, students benefit from enhanced retention and a smooth, uninterrupted educational journey, an RDCRS media release said.

"We are excited to start the 2024-25 school year at St. Patrick’s Community School," said Mandy Reed, St. Patrick’s Community School principal. "Our dedicated team of educators is committed to providing a nurturing and engaging environment that will inspire our students to reach their fullest potential.”

To ensure a smooth start for students Aug. 8 and Aug. 9, have been designated as staggered entry days.

The phased entry approach allows teachers to give personalized attention to each student, helping them acclimate to their new learning environments before the entire school gathers on Aug. 12.

As the school year begins, RDCRS reminds all drivers to exercise caution in school zones. With students returning, it is crucial to stay vigilant, obey speed limits, and stop for school buses as required.
