As festival season is upon us in the Pembina Valley, Sawatzky’s Furniture and Appliances is celebrating with its Festival of Savings.

Layal and Shawna from Sawatzky’s are themselves looking forward to what festival season offers.

For Layal, who lives in Winkler, the Harvest Festival coming up this weekend means one thing: food.

“I love freshly squeezed lemonade, I love taco-in-a-bag, you name it,” she says. “I love it. [I’ll be] at every food truck this weekend. I'll be there eating as much as I can.”

Shawna is from Morden, so her home festival is the Corn & Apple Festival.

“I just love the gathering of all the people. I really love how it brings everyone together and everyone works together. And, of course, the food trucks,” she says. “I have kids and they spend all their time on the rides, so I spend a lot of time in the ride section as well.”

Sawatzky’s Furniture and Appliances strives to capture the jubilant spirit of the season with its Festival of Sales.

“We've tried to create a big program at the store where we have tons of balloons that mark extreme savings,” says Layal. “We've got leather sofas starting at $1,199. We've got Bosch dishwashers at $599. We've got crazy deals in store, and we've tried to spread it out so that anyone that's looking for something can find a great deal, which is really awesome.”

Shawna says one product to look for is a sectional that’s currently available in two colours.

“My favourite sectional that I've had my house for [approximately] 15 years is on sale for $3,799,” she says. “It's a great colour, and it would look good in anyone's living room. I have it and I love it. I would recommend it to anyone.”

For Shawna, the sectional is certainly not the only deal worth highlighting.

“There are some great mattress sales on — [it’s a] good time for [university] students needing a good mattress at a good price,” she says. “There are also some appliances as well. We've got some good deals that LG sent our way on some specific fridges and laundry pairs. You save $150 [on] laundry pairs. There's just something all throughout the store.”

During Sawatzky’s Furniture and Appliances’ Festival of Savings, there is also a chance to win back purchases.

“We wanted to create something that was really fun for people to engage in [with] an exciting program,” says Layal. “We've created this idea where each week any person that purchases something can win $500 or $750 or $1000 or $2500. Anyone that buys in the first week is entered for all of the draws, so the earlier you come in, the better [your chances].”

In addition to the purchase win-back program, there are also some surprises around the corner that the pair is keeping under wraps for now — Layal and Shawna suggest keeping a close eye on the sale’s developments.

For now, Shawna says that as the sale continues, numbers in the stores are increasing.

Layal says that Sawatzky’s has prepared for its Festival of Savings well in advance, so stock is plentiful, and items are ready to go.
