Weyburn's Cooper Knox has been selected to the U-15 Team Saskatchewan. He will be heading to Laval, Quebec later this month to compete in the Ray Carter Cup.
"They do their first trial in May and then usually they would do like a Top 40 or top 30 after that, but they didn't this year," he explained. "So I kind of just waited for that and had to work hard during the regular season to achieve my goal. And I did."
He said he was informed on Tuesday via an e-mail congratulating to all the U-15 kids who made the roster.
The third baseman and pitcher, who plays AAA out of White City, will be joined on the trip by his parents Jason and Lisa Knox.
Knox shared what he's looking forward to about the trip.
"Maybe learning a little French, and definitely meeting my teammates and being around a really good group of kids and a really good group of coaches," he shared. "I'm just gonna go out there and hopefully just do my thing. That's my goal."
Knox said he likes to help maintain and improve team morale.
"I'm a great teammate. I pick up the guys when they need it, like make sure they stay loose and yeah, I just nice and loose for the boys."
With 10 years of baseball already under his belt, Cooper Knox has long term goals, including college-level and maybe even pro baseball.
