The grand prize winner of the Providence High School Student Athlete of the Month is recent high school graduate Giana Denora.
Denora graduated from Dakota Collegiate in Winnipeg in June and is planning on attending Providence University College and Theological Seminary in Otterburne, MB.
The avid soccer player was announced as the Athlete of the Month with CHVN in September 2023. Now she's taken home the grand prize which includes a $1,500 scholarship from Providence.
"Thank you so much," says Denora. "That's so good."
Denora will be playing soccer as part of Providence's Pilots team, coached by Tory Walker. Last summer, Denora also represented Manitoba at a national tournament in Halifax.
"I am so excited. [Playing soccer] is probably why I'm most excited [to attend Prov in the fall]."
She is taking general biology in her first year at the college as she hopes to continue on in her education with the goal of becoming a nurse.
