Why make your kids wait until the end of October to go trick or treating, when they can do it this Saturday night?

Nickle Lake Regional Park will be holding the annual Halloween in the Park tomorrow evening from 6 to 8 p.m., and the weather forecast couldn't be better.

Park Manager Darren Wheeler said they'll start the spooky-themed event today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Beaver Den with a 'Haunted Crafts' activity.

"There'll be costume contests," he shared. "We'll have awards given for those and site decorating awards."

He said rather than waiting for 8 p.m. to hand out goody bags to the first 250 kids who arrive at the Beaver Den, they'll be making them available throughout the trick-or-treating so kids who can't stay up past 8 can still get one.

In the past, however, sites have reported seeing between 300 and 400 kids coming by for candy.

With campers still signing up their sites as those handing out candy, Wheeler said a map will be posted just before the event on their Facebook page, or visitors can also grab theirs at the park office on their way in for trick-or-treating.

The evening will be closed out with a Hotel Transylvania movie being played on their outdoor screen near the Grub Shack, which will begin at 9 p.m.
