The Town of Oxbow has introduced the Good Neighbour Recognition Program, a new initiative to celebrate residents who go above and beyond for their community.
“The program seeks to identify and honour individuals who embody the spirit of neighbours helping neighbours, and strives to recognize those who are making a difference in the town,” explained Brandi Morissette, Oxbow's cheif administrative officer.
Nominations for the program are now open to anyone who demonstrates neighbourly behaviour. “Anybody can nominate a good neighbour based on the form that is attached to our Good Neighbour Guide,” she added.
Morrisette highlighted examples of good neighbourliness, such as checking in on a neighbour, helping with yard work, cutting grass, or shovelling sidewalks.
Each year, four winners will be selected from the nominees. They will receive a $25 gift card from a local business and a signed card from the council and mayor.
Nominations are open until August 31.
