A 19U baseball team is coming to Sylvan Lake for the 2025 season.
The Sylvan Lake Gulls are collaborating with the St. Joseph High School Falcon Ball Academy to create a summer team that will play out of the Gulls Field at Pogadl Park.
“When the Sylvan Lake Gulls first announced our plans to bring a Western Canadian Baseball League team in 2019, we noted that we wanted to help develop the game of baseball in Central Alberta.” a Gulls media release said. “We feel like the partnership with St. Joe’s in this venture is another big step forward towards that vision and strengthens both organizations.”
The team will provide an opportunity for high school and gap year athletes to further develop their baseball skills through high-level coaching, training, and competition.
The competition includes other 19U summer teams in Alberta, Western Canada, and the Pacific Northwest United States in a tournament and exhibition schedule.
Gulls GM and Head Coach Jason Chatwood will join St. Joseph High School Falcon Ball Academy Head Coach Scott Murray, in managing the 19U Prep Team.
