An online fundraiser has been started for Colin Hough, the Rocky View County employee who was killed in a shooting near Strathmore earlier this week.

Tributes to Hough and support for his family have been pouring out since the shooting on August 6, including several Foothills-area towns lowering their flags to half mast.

"Colin was a beloved father, husband, son, colleague and friend who never hesitated to help anyone. He leaves behind a beautiful family, including his wife and two small children who will need as much help as possible as they navigate this unimaginable and unexpected loss," the fundraiser page partially reads.

The funds raised will cover funeral expenses and help the family with other costs.

In a release from August 8, Rocky View County announced that it will be matching donations from the GoFundMe page.

Reeve Crystal Kissel is quoted in the release.

"Matching these donations is one way we can extend our support and honour Colin’s memory. Together, we will find the resilience to move forward, keeping Colin's memory alive in our hearts. Your continued compassion means more than words can express. Thank you for standing with us during this challenging period."

So far, over $62,000 has been raised.

The fundraiser page can be seen here.
