The Okotoks Dawgs and the Gulls start the second round of the 2024 WCBL playoffs tonight in Sylvan Lake with the first pitch thrown at 7:05 pm.
The Dawgs enter the series after playing a nail-biter of a game three on Friday, winning 4-3 after Ricky Sanchez had a walk-off bunt in the 13th inning to advance to the second round. The Gulls enter tonight with a sweep on the Brooks Bombers and having two full days off.
Some numbers of note from the first round, Ricky Sanchez and "Mr. August" Brendan Luther held the most runs in the WCBL first round with four runs, Nash "Bash" Crowell was second in RBIs with four, Ashton Luera was third in strikeouts with 11, and Graham Brunner was fifth with nine.
Blake Crippen will start on the mound for the Dawgs tonight with Luther, Sanchez, Jarrett Burney, Tucker Zdunich, Connor Crowson, Logan Grant, Lou Anderson, Caleb Lumbard, and Landon Kauffman making the start as the batters.
The Dawgs took the season series 5-3 during the 2024 WCBL regular season.
The Dawgs and Gulls will play again tomorrow for game two at Seaman Stadium with a 7:05 pm start time. If it goes to game three, Sylvan Lake will be the host on Tuesday at 7:05 pm.
