The Okotoks Dawgs were on the losing end of game one, falling 5-3 to the Gulls tonight.

The Gulls were up 3-0 in game one of the West Division Finals in the 2024 WCBL playoffs, but the Dawgs stormed back to tie it up late. The Gulls found success at the bottom of the ninth and won it with a walk-off home run by Marques Abulhosn.

Blake Crippen took the start on the mound for the Dawgs in Sylvan Lake pitching in four full innings and getting two strikeouts. Ryan McFarland, Zane Morrison, Cade Herrmann, and Greg Ross came into the game as relievers.

Herrmann has pitched in each of the four Dawgs' playoff games so far and hasn't allowed a single hit.

The Gulls made the game 3-0 in their favour after scoring a run in the second, third, and fourth inning. The Dawgs cut the Gulls' lead to one after scoring two runs at the bottom of the seventh.

Caleb Lumbard got the first run after Ricky Sanchez earned a walk with loaded bases. Jarrett Burney picked up an RBI with the next at-bat hitting a sacrifice fly with one out, getting Landon Kauffman in for the run.

Logan Grant tied the game up at 3-3 after stealing home plate at the bottom of the eighth.

The Gulls put it out of reach at the bottom of the ninth, halting the Dawgs' late-game heroics with a walk-off home run.

Okotoks has an opportunity to tie the series up at 1-1 and force a game three in the best-of-three series tomorrow at Seaman Stadium. The home game for the Dawgs will start at 7:05 pm

If the Dawgs win tomorrow night they will play the Gulls in Sylvan Lake on Tuesday for game three with a 7:05 pm start time.

In the East Division Finals, the Saskatoon Berries hold a 1-0 series lead over the Moose Jaw Miller Express after a monstrous 14-1 victory yesterday.
