On Aug. 7, the Maskwacis RCMP received a report of a shooting in front of a residence on Louis Bull First Nation.   

When first responders arrived, a 15-year-old was found with gunshot wounds.  

The victim was flown to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.   

A second victim, who was hit by a car and had minor injuries was treated and later released.  

With assistance from the public, a suspect was identified.   

On Aug. 8, the Maskwacis RCMP with help from the Strathcona RCMP and the Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at a Sherwood Park hotel room and successfully arrested the suspect.   

During the arrest, a loaded semi-automatic rifle was located.  

Kashton Fearious Bull, 24, has been charged with:  

  • Attempted murder;  

  • Possession of a firearm contrary to order;  

  • Weapons offences (x4).  

Bull has been taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody with his next court date set for Aug. 22, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.  

“We are thankful to the members of the public who came forward and provided crucial information that allowed us to quickly identify and locate this suspect,” said Richard Mckay, Maskwacis RCMP Staff Sergeant. “Bravely working together is the only way we can put an end to senseless violence.”
