Last season's Okotoks Oilers Rookie of the Year, Brett Wilson, has officially committed to Bemidji State University.

The 18-year-old put up 46 points in 64 games last year, with 24 of them coming from goals. In the playoffs, he played 10 games with three points and a monstrous hit in game six of the second round against the Brooks Bandits.

"Brett established himself as one of our top offensive players in his rookie season, combining his talent, energy, and hockey IQ to become a consistent difference-maker in our lineup," Oilers head coach and GM Tyler Deis said in a release. "We are excited to watch him continue to grow in the years to come and will wish him all the best when he eventually heads to Bemidji State."

In the 2022-2023 season, Wilson put up three points in four games during the Circle K Classic, added 37 points in 31 games for the Calgary Flames U18 AAA team, and played in six games with an assist with the Okotoks Oilers.

Wilson, built like a fire hydrant at 5'8 and 160 pounds, will have a stronger role with the team as there is a lot of turnover this year.

The Okotoks Oilers will host the Brooks Bandits on September 20th for their home and season opener for the 2024-2025 BCHL season.
