Estevan Fire Rescue worked through a busy week with a few calls coming in, with a few dangerous situations in the city.

Starting the week's calls on August 7th at around 10:00 P.M., a crew was dispatched to carbon monoxide alarms at a residence in central Estevan. Joined by SaskEnergy, they detected small amounts of CO in the residence. Upon investigation, the cause of the alarm is believed to be from a natural gas stove.

Later that week on August 9th early in the morning around 2:20 A.M., a crew went to the northwest part of the city to check out commercial fire alarms. Crews checked the whole building and couldn’t find a source for the alarm. They believe the alarms may have been caused by a faulty detection head.

Later in the day around 2:30 P.M., crews were called to a parking lot in central Estevan for a truck leaking fuel. Once crews arrived they found that a fuel tank in the box of a truck was leaking. After stopping the leak the crew put down absorbent material and returned to the station.

To cap off a busy day crews were called at around 7:00 PM to a hotel in east Estevan for an occupant trapped in an elevator. Crews opened up the elevator so the person could get out, with no injuries reported.
