Three child-care programs in Calgary were shut down on August 12 due to numerous non-compliances.

Three Little Scholars programs in Calgary were placed on a probation license on Monday, with an expiration date of August 30.

Child Care Licensing had issued the probationary licenses due to ongoing concerns and increased risk that caused them to determine there was imminent danger to the health, safety, and well-being of the children attending the program, which prompted the immediate cancellation of the Little Scholars program licenses.

Due to these closures, 297 children have been affected and will have to find a new place to attend.

The parents of the children who are affected by these closures were either notified in person on August 12 or will be informed of these closures by email.

Each location will also have a Notice of Cancellation that describes the cause of the cancelled license posted to the door of each facility.

The Ministry of Jobs, Economy, and Trade will help provide information, support, and assistance to those who are looking for alternative child-care options.

The three locations have been working with Child Care Licensing to make sure they return to compliance.

If anyone has concerns about any child-care program in their community or wishes to report an incident, it's advised to call Child Care Connect at 1-844-644-5165.
