By just a hair, the Kenora area broke a heat record yesterday afternoon.

Environment Canada reports that September 28’s record high was 24.7 degrees, beating out 1948’s record of 24.4 degrees at the Kenora Airport.

“This is a warm stretch of weather we’re going through,” said Environment Canada Meteorologist Gerald Cheng.

“Right now, we’re delaying the colder weather under this warm air mass. We still have temperatures reaching the mid 20’s. That’s spectacular. On the weekend, it should dip a little, but we’ll be well above seasonal temperatures.

Cheng says this weekend’s seasonal temperatures are typically around 12 or 13 degrees, but the forecast is calling for highs in the low 20s. He adds the warm weather is expected to stick around well into next week and through next weekend.
