Weyburn may see the risk of some severe weather this afternoon.
According to the thunderstorm outlook from Environment Canada, a disturbance in the upper atmosphere is moving into the area. Moisture coming from the southeast combined with warm surface temperatures creates fuel for possible storms.
Strong winds near the ground can create spinning in the atmosphere and potentially lead to the formation of supercells which are capable of producing large hail and damaging winds.
Some isolated supercells may develop this afternoon. They will travel east and likely merge into thunderstorm clusters. The main threats from any developing storms are strong winds and large hail.
These storms are expected to move into eastern Saskatchewan and western Manitoba overnight. A strong southerly jet stream will fuel the storm, allowing showers and thunderstorms to continue into Manitoba on Wednesday.
