At the latest Estevan Board of Police Commissioners meeting, it was announced that Jamie Blunden, the current police chief in Weyburn, will take over as chief of the Estevan Police Service starting in October.

Current Chief Rich Lowen’s last day with the Estevan Police Service is August 31. Deputy Chief Warren Morrical will serve as interim chief until Blunden’s arrival.

Mayor Roy Ludwig commented on the new chief, “He brings a wealth of experience to the job. I know we’re all looking forward to him taking over. At the same time, we feel sad that Chief Lowen is leaving. He’s done a great job for us.”

This was Lowen’s final commissioner's meeting, during which he was presented with a parting gift, including a City of Estevan blanket and a picture of the iconic water tower.
