A Foothills brewery just had another impressive showing at an international award show.

Fahr Brewing, based out of Diamond Valley, was awarded three medals at the 2024 World Beer Awards.

Their Copper won gold and was named the country winner in the Amber/Dark Kellerbier category, their Alkoholfrei took silver in No & Low Alcohol Lager, and their Hefe won bronze in Strong Wheat Beer.

This was Fahr's sixth consecutive year of receiving some form of award at the World Beer Awards, with all three of this year's winners having received medals in previous years.

That includes their Hefe being named the World’s Best Bavarian Style Hefeweiss in 2020.

In the case of the Alkoholfrei, brewmaster Jochen Fahr says this wasn't the beer's first silver medal, but it was the first time it technically ranked among the highest in the category.

"The way the medals work is you have to hit a certain amount of points for bronze, silver, and gold. This year there was no gold in that category, so there were three silver medals awarded for non-alcoholic beers in Canada and we were one of the three."

Fahr says winning at these events never gets old even after years of accolades, and with different judges at each competition, he's able to utilize a constant stream of professional feedback to maintain his products' consistency.

"What we used those awards for, really, is more about unbiased feedback on what we do well and what we can do better. Every time we get that feedback and those awards, we're using the information to get a touch better."

So far, that feedback has been pretty good.

"I'm pretty happy because every time we enter into a competition, we generally are on the podium. It makes me pretty proud," says Fahr.

On top of these newest medals, Fahr also received word from Culinaire Magazine that the Copper and Hefe had received Judge's Selection awards in their 2024 Alberta Beverage Awards. The full results are to be published in the magazine's October edition.
