ZAISER

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Randall Victor Zaiser.  Surrounded by his loved ones, Randy passed away on Saturday, August 10th, 2024, at the age of 75 years.

He was predeceased by his parents, Edna and Ernie; and brother, Garry.  Randy leaves behind his wife, Lorraine; daughter, Jodi (Pat); son, Tyler (Angela); his cherished grandchildren: Riley (Taylor), Kathleen, Owen, Kade, and Zack; as well as his great-granddaughter, Olivia.  He is also survived by his siblings: Drew (Juanita), Sandra, and Andrea (Rod).  They will all continue to honour and remember him through the many special memories they shared together.

Randy was born in Whitewood, SK in 1949 and raised in Corning and Glenavon, SK.  He left home in his early years to pursue a career in banking and this path took him to various towns throughout his life.  Randy married Lorraine Haubrich in 1971 and together they moved to different communities as Randy's career required.  They raised their children in Assiniboia and Preeceville, SK.  Randy proudly ran his own SGI business in Preeceville for many years.  After retiring, Randy and Lorraine moved to Moose Jaw, SK in 2005 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.  Even in retirement, Randy continued to stay active, working as a farmhand and driving trucks for several more years.

Randy was a man of many interests and great wisdom.  He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones.  His time with his daughter and son and their families were the most precious to him and always brought a smile to his face.

Randy loved the outdoors, enjoying many activities such as hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling.  In his later years, some of his favourite pastimes were walks in Wakamow park with his dog Luna, gardening, backyard fires with his wife, and visits to his brothers’ and son’s cottages.  He also cherished many trips out to BC to visit and laugh with his sisters and their families.  When he wasn’t outside, Randy could be found reading a book or watching a Blue Jays game in his favorite chair.  He enjoyed playing cards, especially crib with his family, and had fun playing pool with his friends.  Randy had a true passion for woodworking and spent countless hours in his garage creating beautiful pieces for his family, many of which he planned together with his daughter.  These handmade pieces will be treasured forever.

As per Randy’s wishes, a small, immediate family gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate his life.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Randy’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200-325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB T2E 2P5.
