The Minor Box Lacrosse Nationals continued in Regina yesterday, with mixed results from the teams from Saskatchewan across all age levels.
The male U13 team would make it two wins in two days after they picked up a 6-1 win over Manitoba yesterday afternoon. Weyburn’s Cohen Baumgartner would get a goal in the game.
They will close out the round-robin today, with a game against British Columbia this morning, and then the First Nations Lacrosse Association this afternoon.
The female U13 team would play two games yesterday. The first was a morning match-up against Nova Scotia. Paycen Babiarz would score twice in the 6-5 win. The second game of the day was against British Columbia last night. That game wouldn’t go as smoothly for Saskatchewan, though, as BC won 15-0.
The round-robin finishes up for the U13 female squad with two games today – they play Nova Scotia again this morning, and then Ontario this evening.
The male U15 team would split their two games yesterday, starting the day with a 6-3 loss to Manitoba. Weyburn’s Leo Missal would record an assist in the loss. The second game of the day was against New Brunswick. While the players from Weyburn were held off the scoresheet, Saskatchewan still went on to a 5-3 victory.
The last game of the round-robin for the U15 male team is this afternoon when they take on the First Nations Lacrosse Association.
The female U15 team picked up their first win of the tournament yesterday. They beat Manitoba 3-1. They will finish off the round-robin this afternoon against BC.
The male U17 squad improved to 3-1 at the tournament with a pair of wins yesterday. The first was a 6-5 victory over Alberta. Weyburn Thrasher Alex Labrecque would be held pointless in that game, but he did record an assist in the second game as Saskatchewan beat PEI 7-2.
The final game of the round-robin for the U17 male team is tonight against Manitoba.
The U22 women would take on Manitoba last night. The two teams battled back and forth, but Manitoba held off Saskatchewan for a 6-5 win. They finish the round-robin tonight when they play Ontario.
