Another Bear Warning has been issued in K-Country.

It's for the Ribbon Lake Backcountry Campground and area.

Bears have been frequenting the area with the warning issued on Tuesday, August 13.

The Ribbon Lake head trail is near Kananaskis Village.

The warning will remain in effect until further notice.

Alberta Parks reminds you that bears can be encountered any time in K-Country and to avoid a surprise bear encounter they recommend the following:

  • Make plenty of noise and travel in groups.
  • Be aware of your surroundings. Look and listen for bears and their signs.
  • Keep your pet on a leash.
  • Carry bear spray. Ensure its easily accessible and you know how to use bear spray.
  • Learn more about bear safety on their webpage or at WildSmart.

They also ask you to report all bear sightings as soon as possible by calling 403-591-7755. Although, cell phone reception is pretty much non-existent in the backcountry.
