When residents of Weyburn find items that appear to have been lost by others, they often will turn those items into the Weyburn Police Service in the hopes that they can be returned to the rightful owner. This includes things such as cell phones, wallets, keys, ID cards, and more. From there, the police will try to reunite those items with the owners.

“Sometimes, cell phones – we can’t open,” explained Sergeant Shane St. John. “They’re locked; we might not know who it belongs to. Same as keys. There’s no name on keys. Or, maybe something fell out of your vehicle, someone might turn it in.”

When they can determine who the owner is, Sgt. St. John said they will try to get in touch with the owner. When they can’t, they hold on to the item with the hopes someone will come by to pick it up.

“A lot of things we can’t identify, so definitely come in and take a look,” Sgt. St. John said. “We’re open 24 hours a day, so any time to come and see.”
