Due to high levels of toxic algae present in the water, the beach at Nickle Lake Regional Park has been closed until further notice as of Thursday afternoon.

According to a post on social media, the Saskatchewan Health Authority tested the water to determine the advisory, and will be testing the waters again next week.

Further advisory information can be found in the image below.

In the post, the park management apologized for any inconvenience this may cause.

The Weyburn Canoe and Kayak Club has said they will be continuing their day camp, but are adjusting some of their activities.

"We will be continuing camp and will keep an eye on the situation," they noted on social media. "There will be no swimming or going to the beach. Kayaking / paddling will still be ongoing. We will make use of the ramp to lessen use of water entry and will be rinsing off to mitigate any chances of skin irritation from potential water contact."
