Alberta Open Farm Days is back this weekend!

It's a showcase of everything Alberta's ag producers have to offer, which is a whole lot.

Open Farm Days reached out to us here at The Eagle 100.9 to see if we wanted to try a few of the products being made here in Wildrose Country.

Of course, we responded with an enthusiastic and unequivocal "Yes."

Here's what they included in the care package:

  • Stir stick lollipops from Christy Creek Honey
  • A pack of Hamel's Premium Jerky
  • Pickled Brussels sprouts from Old School Cheesery
  • Saskatoon jam from Twisted Fork Preserves
  • Pork rub seasoning from Serben Farms
  • Coffee beans from Backroad Farmhouse
  • Red fife stoneground flour and some dehydrated sourdough starter from Chatsworth Farm
  • Sea Buckthorn tea leaves from Rocky Meadows Country Getaway

I've had a chance to sample most of the goodies in the last few days and they did not disappoint.

I was able to put together a nice breakfast with a few of the items sent our way from Alberta Farm Days.

We're so lucky to have all these wonderful producers as our neighbours here in Alberta, and we're even more lucky that so many of them are opening their doors this weekend!

I took a look and found quite a few local businesses participating, including the Bar U Ranch, Eau Clair Distillery, Hartell Homestead, Nanton Grain Elevators, Spirit Hills Winery, and the Priddis and Millarville Fair.

The Alberta Open Farm Days website features a search function that shows you nearby farms participating in the event, as well as a trip planner.

So be sure to take some time this weekend to see where your food comes from and meet some of Alberta's talented producers!
