The round-robin portion of the Minor Box Lacrosse Nationals in Regina wrapped up yesterday, and four teams from Saskatchewan are off to the medal round, which begins today.  

The male U13 team, which includes Weyburn’s Cohen Baumgartner, will be taking on BC in the semi-finals today. They closed out the round-robin yesterday afternoon against the First Nations Lacrosse Association, falling 8-2.  

The male U15 team will be entering their semi-final matchup against BC with the momentum of a win in their final round-robin game. The Saskatchewan team, which includes Quinton Stinson, Leo Missal, and Hudson Maloney from the Weyburn Thrashers program and has Weyburn’s Sawyer Leko behind the bench, beat the First Nations team 6-4 yesterday afternoon to close out the round-robin. Missal had a goal in the victory.  

Weyburn’s Alex Labrecque and the male U17 team taking on Manitoba in their final round-robin game ahead of the medal round yesterday. Manitoba would win the game 9-5. Saskatchewan now plays Nova Scotia today with the winner moving on to the gold medal game tomorrow.  

The female U13 team will play British Columbia in the semi-finals this afternoon. The team, which includes Bree Tuchscherer and Paycen Babiarz from Weyburn Lacrosse, fell 8-0 to Ontario in their final round-robin game yesterday.  

The four players from Weyburn on the female U15 team, Hunter Moon, Maci Patterson, Chloe Tuchscherer and Julie Labrecque, will look to help guide their team to a win in a positional game this morning against Manitoba. Their lone win in the round-robin came against that squad. Saskatchewan finished off the round-robin with a 6-0 loss to BC yesterday.  

The U22 women’s team, which has a strong contingent of Weyburn-based players, will be hoping to finish off the tournament with a win. They fell 10-0 to a strong Ontario team last night but will look to bounce back this morning against Manitoba. The Weyburn players include Brittney Honig, Bethany Honig, Callie Dammann, Jessica Benning, Ella Schenher, Ella Johnson, and Sayde Johnson.  

The finals for the tournament are tomorrow.
