The former Chairperson of Morden-Winkler Habitat for Humanity is now helping the province's dozen-or-so chapters fulfill their missions. Christina Falk was hired as Habitat for Humanity Manitoba's Manager of Chapter Support this past spring.

"She and her husband, Duane, kind of resurrected that chapter about six or seven years ago in Winkler. And when we posted this job, she made the decision to leave her fulltime job and come work fulltime for Habitat. We are just thrilled to have her," said Jamie Hall, CEO of the Manitoba organization.

This job, added Hall, helping Falk live her life's purpose - helping people Habitat families get into their homes.

Meantime, PembinaValleyOnline reported earlier this week that the current Morden-Winkler build project is ahead of schedule. Though the original projected finish date was December of this year, with the pace that it is moving, the expectation is that it will be finished the sooner.

Hall, says it's amazing to see the rate in which the home is going up, noting the groundbreaking only just happened this spring.

"Another success story for the Morden-Winkler chapter," he said. "They've been on-track to build a home every year. A lot of chapters to a home every second year, they take a year for fund-raising and then a year to build, but Winkler - they're punching above their weight."

Falk credited chapter's success on this latest project to all of the tradespeople that have volunteered to help.

“We have had so many trades come forward for this build and help us with a building day here or there and doing lots of the pieces that often take us a longer time to do, so we are just super thankful for that," she said.
