The TD Summer Reading Club wrapped up on Friday at the library, with children celebrating the conclusion with a pizza party and games.

Katie Ostrander, a summer student with the library, said the program was a success. The wind-up party attracted about 40 children, with around 100 enrolled in the program.

Ostrander explained the program was held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, each session lasting two hours.

“They have 15 minutes at the end to read, but up until those 15 minutes, we are doing things with them the whole time. Whether that’s a game, a STEM activity, or crafts, we have one of each every time,” she said.

When the kid were finished their reading they were able to enter their names into a ballot box as part of the reading reward program.

Ostrander said the program was a great way to encourage children to keep up with their reading, adding the ballot box was full to the brim with entries. During the wrap-up party were given out.

“We had a lot of readers this year compared to last year, so that’s always good to see. I think the kids had a lot of fun, and they seemed to enjoy it."

She noted the program is a great way for children from different schools to get to know one another, and it also gives them a chance to explore different activities and branch out.
