The Morden Corn and Apple Festival has become a tradition to many, drawing thousands of visitors each year. This year, the festival takes place August 23-25.

Festival Chair, Nathan Knight, has been involved since 2019. So far this year, things seem to be going quite smoothly, thanks to hundreds of volunteers who show up year after year. "It’s like a train rolling down the tracks," he said. "It doesn't stop. You just hop on and do the best you can."

With over 26 different committees, each managing a specific part of the festival, from the petting zoo to the street vendors, Knight credits the volunteers as the true backbone of the Corn and Apple Festival. "Close to 1,000 people are helping out," he explained, "It's incredible."

Knight is particularly excited about the music. "Music really sets us apart," he said. “This year, the festival features iconic Canadian rock band 54-40, who will be headlining on Saturday night.” Knight pointed out that even if people don’t recognize the band by name, they’d surely know their hits.

A tribute band, Album Sides, will be performing two full albums as well: Supertramp's "Crime of the Century" and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon."

Food vendors are an essential part of the Corn and Apple experience as well, with more vendors than ever before slated to show up at the festival this year.

Knight shared an impressive statistic—around 50,000 cobs of corn will be given out during the festival.

For a town of 10,000 residents, the scale of the event is staggering. "We’ll see approximately 80,000 people coming through this weekend," says Knight.
