Okotoks' first few days of air quality readings can now be seen online.

A collaboration between the Town of Okotoks and the Calgary Region Airshed Zone (CRAZ) will see a year's worth of air quality monitoring in town.

Air quality readings are being collected by a portable air monitoring laboratory (PAML) set up near Okotoks Junior High School and Percy Pegler School.

It'll be stationed there until July 31, 2025.

During that time, the PAML will be monitoring the rate of various pollutants in the air, including Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx), Ground Level Ozone (O3), Carbon Monoxide (CO), and Sulphur Dioxide (SO2).

Hourly data is already available on the CRAZ website and is expected to be posted to the Alberta Air Quality Health Index website soon.

The Town of Okotoks has also launched a webpage about local air quality.
