The Weyburn Police Service has charged a woman from Weyburn with arson, and arson with disregard for human life. The charges come after an incident earlier this month.

“It’s a very scary situation that put some lives in danger; very serious charges,” explained Sergeant Shane St. John with the Weyburn Police Service. “We were able to link her back to another arson in 2021, so that’s always a positive to get someone that has been (allegedly) lighting fired charged and on some conditions.”

Charmaine Friesen made court appearances last week on the charges and was released on conditions. She is scheduled to be back in Weyburn Provincial Court on August 27th.

“We hope that’s the end of it,” added Sgt. St. John. “We hope if they need help they get help, but now it’s going to go through the legal system.”
