Former Okotoks Oiler Dylan Holloway is now a former Edmonton Oiler too.

He's officially joined the St. Louis Blues for the next two seasons after Edmonton didn't match St. Louis' offer sheet which was signed last week.

With neither Holloway nor Philip Broberg getting their deals matched by the Oilers, this is the first time in history that two restricted free agents have moved to a single team. The last time an offer sheet wasn't matched was back in 2021 with Jesperi Kotkanniemi leaving the Montreal Canadiens for the Carolina Hurricanes. The only other offer sheet that wasn't matched was in 2006 when Dustin Penner went to the Edmonton Oilers after the Anaheim Ducks couldn't match the offer from the Oilers.

Holloway's new deal with the Blues comes at a $2.29 million cost annually for two years and Broberg's contract is two years at $4.58 million per year.

Both Holloway and Broberg played key roles in the 2024 NHL playoffs and helped the Oilers reach the Stanley Cup finals.

The Oilers seemed to be making room for the contract this week as they moved defencemen Cody Ceci to the San Jose Sharks to clear cap room but also added defencemen Ty Emberson from the Sharks and forward Vasily Podkolzin from the Vancouver Canucks. The Oilers didn't match the deals and both players are now a part of the St. Louis Blues.

Holloway played 25 games in the playoffs for Edmonton last season, posting seven points, with five coming from goals. The 22-year-old had a tough time staying in the Oilers lineup spending last year with Edmonton and their AHL team the Bakersfield Condors.

This year he has an opportunity to become a mainstay player for the Blues.
