Residents from Foothills County are eligible to be nominated for a royal medal.

To help celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, 30,000 Canadians will have their achievements and contributions to their community, province, territory, or country recognized and will receive a Coronation Medal.

Of those, 4,000 will be for members of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Each riding will have 20 coronation medals to give away to outstanding Canadians, including Foothills County.

To be eligible for the medal, the person must have either made significant contributions to the country, territory, region, or community or have made such an outstanding achievement abroad that brings positive credit to Canada.

The person must have also been alive on May 6th, 2023, when King Charles II was crowned king, though nominations are able to be made posthumously.

To be nominated for the Foothills region, the person must live within the Foothills Electoral District and the nominator must fill out the nomination forms, which can be found online.

When nominating someone, it's advised to focus on the achievements of that person.

People may also be nominated for long service and good conduct as a volunteer or member of an organization and for demonstrating high professionalism.

This medal is awarded to only individuals, and self-nominations are not allowed.

Nominations must be filled out and submitted by midnight on Sunday, September 15th.

To learn more about the award and to find the nomination forms for the Foothills region, head over to Foothills M.P., John Barlow's website.
