A collaborative effort in Leader has brought a vibrant new mural to the community hall, thanks to the dedication of local youth and support from the Community Initiatives Fund. The project, which was designed to engage and inspire young artists, has transformed the space with a colourful display that now adorns the wall above the canteen.

Over the course of two sessions, 75 young artists from the area each contributed to the mural by individually painting a tile. The result is a stunning mosaic of creativity and community spirit that reflects the unique contributions of each participant. The mural installation, which took about two hours, has already become a focal point in the hall.

Rochelle Francis, Leader’s recreation director, expressed her excitement about the project’s impact. “It adds a bright pop of colour to the space,” she said. The mural not only enhances the aesthetics of our community centre but also represents the collective efforts and artistic talents of youth in the area.

The mural project is more than just a decorative addition; it’s a testament to the power of community involvement and the importance of providing creative opportunities for young people. The new artwork brings a sense of pride and ownership to the youth who participated, while also offering a cheerful welcome to all who visit the community hall.
