There are several events in the Foothills this weekend for those who wish to have fun close to home.

With a bit of variety, there should be activities and fun for everyone.

  • Clark Schlosser Memorial Rodeo

The Nanton Ag Society will be hosting their first ever Canadian Professional Rodeo this weekend, known as the Clark Schlosser Memorial Rodeo, at the Nanton Ag Society.

This rodeo is sanctioned by both the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA) and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), meaning that the money earned from this rodeo will count towards the athlete qualifying for either the Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR) or the National Finals Rodeo (NFR).

There'll be calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc, bareback, bull riding, barrel racing, and break-away roping.

It will take place on Friday, August 23rd and Saturday, August 24th, and tickets can be found on their website.

  • Summer Round Up ft. Chili Cookoff

The Town of Okotoks will be hosting their Summer Round Up ft. Chili Cookoff event on Saturday, August 24th.

This event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and there will be dodgeball, cornhole, a corn-on-the-cob relay, an artisan market, family-themes activities, and a Chili Cookoff taking over downtown Okotoks.

The chili will be judged by both attendees and a judges panel to determine which chili reigns supreme.
