This year's High River Half is coming up fast.

It's the biggest annual fundraiser for the Foothills Advocacy in Motion Society (FAIM), and has become a beloved High River tradition spanning over 20 years.

Scheduled for Saturday, September 7, the event will include 5K and 10K marathons, a Kids' Fun Run, and, of course, a Half Marathon.

As always, it will kick off in High River's George Lane Park, with a start time of 9 a.m.

The Highwood Lions Club will also be on hand for a pancake breakfast.

Jenn Seinen, fundraising coordinator with FAIM, says the event hasn't lost momentum, even after all these years.

"This, so far, is our highest attendance, and our registration isn't even completely closed yet. It just keeps growing year over year."

Participants can register online until September 5, or in person on the day of the event.

Proceeds from the High River Half will go toward FAIM's work to support adults with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling lives in their communities.

FAIM has centres in High River, Okotoks, Strathmore, and Airdrie.

Seinnen says the High River Half brings out people from all over the Foothills and beyond.

"They come from all different branches, we have many people who join us from Calgary, especially our half marathoners. They definitely love to come down and see the rural community."

More information on the High River Half, including registration info and race route maps, can be seen on their website.
