The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings made some roster moves over the past weekend, ahead of training camp for the 2024-25 season, which opens on Friday.

The first move that was announced was the signing of 06-born defenseman Connor Frost. Originally from Okotoks, the blueliner started last season with the Calgary Canucks before going to the Sherwood Park Crusaders. He was with the Crusaders after their switch to the BCHL midway through last season. In all, he played in 33 Junior A games and 12 Junior B games. He picked up 12 points at the Junior A level, and 21 in Junior B with the High River Flyers.

The next move from the Red Wings was a trade with the Campbellton Tigers of the MJAHL. In exchange for a player development fee, the Red Wings acquired forward Samuel Massé. The 05-born forward, originally from Mirabel, Quebec, finished last season with 52 points in 52 games, including 13 goals, while playing with the West Kent Steamers. In his U18 season with the Mount Academy Saints Massé would pick up 65 points in 65 games.

The third roster move announced on the weekend would see the Red Wings acquire 06-born forward Hayden Evans from the Sicamous Eagles of the KIJHL. The Revelstoke, B.C. native played in 43 games last year and finished the season with 50 points, including 26 goals.

Training camp for the Red Wings opens on Friday with scrimmages starting at 5 p.m. The camp will wrap up with the annual Red & White Game, which includes the presentation of the Eric Calibaba and Friends Cup to the winning team, on Monday at 3 p.m.
