BGC Wolf Creek is inviting Central Alberta families to an open house today (Aug. 27) to learn about programs offered in the new Blackfalds location.

The new BGC location will operate out of the Blackfalds Iron Ridge Secondary Campus, and beginning on Sept. 3, offer after-school and PD Day programs, and a family counseling program.

“We want people to come and check it out, have a look, and register their kids if they're interested,” said Beth Reitz Executive Director of Ponoka Youth Centre and BGC Wolf Creek. “It’s a great new location in a brand-new school. We have several rooms, and kids will be able to access all of the activities.”

Families can also meet BGC Blackfalds Program Manager Hannah Van Straten during the open house.

“She will be on-site as well as some of our other staff to meet parents and to meet the people that will be using the programs,” Reitz said. “We want families to be able to come and see it, get to know the parents, and know where their kids will be, and feel safe.”

Reitz explained that based on a community needs assessment, a Blackfalds location was needed.

“We're really excited to be expanding to Blackfalds,” she said. “BGC offers such a variety of programs to help the community. We want to start out with this and see where we go from there.”

For more information, or to register for programs visit the BGC Blackfalds website here.

The open house is today (Aug. 27) from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Blackfalds Iron Ridge Secondary Campus.
