The Weyburn Soccer Association has partnered up with the Celtic FC from Glasglow, an international soccer club, to host a soccer camp in Weyburn. Jason Roy, president of the Weyburn Soccer Association, says it took a lot of communication to organize, but is an exciting opportunity.

“The need for having international club camps is growing throughout the country. People, especially some of our participants, they travel to go to these kind of camps. So, Weyburn Soccer, we're growing. We have the facilities for it. We want to be able to host those kind of camps. So to be able to bring in an international club like the Celtics, that's pretty exciting.”

Roy says it is an indicator of the growth of Weyburn Soccer as the Celtics look at their mission statement, programs, and facilities before agreeing to come and host the camp.

“It's huge. It goes to show that we are definitely on the right path. We're a progressive club that just wants to keep moving forward.”

The camp is running now from August 26th to 30th at the Spark Centre and Jubilee Park.

After the camps, Weyburn Soccer will be using the training methods and sessions provided by the Celtics throughout the year. The Celtics will come back to Weyburn every summer to run the camp.

Registration for Weyburn Soccer is still open for another week HERE.
