Youth had a blast completing the Stop, Drop & Run Obstacle Challenge staged by the SLS Centre on Aug. 24.
The SLS Centre had been looking something special for youth in August, explains Catriona Hill, SLS Centre director of experience, and judging by number of families participating, they've found it.
Youth ages two and up completed 25 obstacles with various degrees of difficult.
"We had a lot of them come back and say they wanted to do it again," says Hill.
Earlier in the day, there was a run and obstacle course event. Participants ran a total of 5k in three segments and completed obstacles in between.
"I've been here for just over two years, and we've been trying to add community value events that are available to everyone," says Hill. "They're available to our members, their available to the general public, they're a little bit different, and they're engaging both physically and mentally. So, we're trying different ways to stimulate people."
It also complemented other events at the centre that day, including the FRN Back-to-School Resource Fair, Sport Gear Swap and the Cochrane Farmers' Market.
SLS Centre staff were on hand and parents were encouraged to engage with their kids along the course.
