Hang on to that great summertime feeling just a little longer with this long weekend’s Manitou Music Festival as a beachside celebration. The two-day event kicks off Saturday evening at the Little Manitou Art Gallery in Manitou Beach with a pair of bands.

Organizer Sarah McKen has the lineup.

“Saturday starts at 8 pm and we have Chord and Wade Fehr, followed by the Two Amigos. It’s part of the regular Saturday night entertainment, but we connected it with the Festival, so it’s the first time we do a two-night Festival.”

Sunday features seven different acts with Manitou Beach staple Bruce Rawling kicking it off at 5:00 pm. Matte Totte follows up along with perennial festival returnee Brian Paul DG.

Christopher and the Saints bring their high-energy brand of folk rock to the stage later in the evening. The Great Fuss from Saskatoon draws on various influences for their guitar-driven and lyrically rich brand of rock.

The evening also features an appearance by the well-known fire brandishng mavens the Salty Circus fresh off appearances at this summer’s Fringe Festival. Finally, the funk-reggae-rock mashup that is the Steadies hits the stage to wrap up the evening. The Steadies have made continuous headway in the Canadian music industries playing the festival circuit and opening for major acts, the last couple of years have been the biggest yet for the band.

The beautiful floral surroundings in the courtyard of the Gallery will be set up with plenty of dancing room and seating under the stars. The grill cafe will be open for burgers and onsite refreshments. Plus, festival goers can take in any of the display spaces that house the gallery’s wondrous displays of prairie artisan work.

“We established Little Manitou Art Gallery 14 years ago, and we’ve been very fortunate to connect with visual artists,” says McKen. “We have over 350 different Saskatchewan artists with work displayed.”

A number of pavilions house the artwork, all for sale, and visitors are welcome to explore during the festival.

It’s the perfect end to a wonderful summer with a long weekend musical indulgence at the Little Manitou Art Gallery. Tickets are available at the Gallery and on Eventbrite.
