Volunteers, board members, and staff have been helping out this week at the Weyburn Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association for a pop-up book sale.

The sale began on Monday at 9 a.m. and will run until Thursday at 6 p.m. in their branch location at 404 Ashford Street.

Program Director Tasha Collins said they've traditionally held a book sale during Mental Health Week on the sidewalk in front of Blue Earth, with shorter hours.

"We decided to do the sale this year at the building itself at our location one it brings people into the building and lets people know where we are, and two, it's a great opportunity for people to visit us and then our hours are longer. So, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day."

She said they have boatloads of books.

"It is a large amount of used books. All proceeds will be staying with the CMHA Weyburn branch. The books are donated through Blue Earth, and then all proceeds stay with us."

The books are being sold by donation, and, "Everybody sets their own price."

Collins added while they haven't even held a garage sale at the branch since pre-COVID, they wanted to see how the community would respond to a book sale.

"We're hoping for it to be successful. We had quite a few people through the door and on our first day there was about $200.00 made."
