A cooler season is approaching as we enter the final days of August, with the heat set to die down this week.
The milder fall temperatures will bring some more placid systems without the thunder, winds, and hail of the past few storms.
Meteorologist with Environment Canada, Terri Lang, said we will still be seeing some summer in the forecast.
"We're getting a little bit into. It's starting to become fall, so nights are getting longer. It gets a little bit harder sometimes to get into the heat."
Some heat will be moving through the southeast this week, however, with temperatures close to the historical numbers, along with a storm.
"This week we'll see a return to some of that heat," said Lang, "But there is a low-pressure system moving through midweek, and that will bring some gusty winds, more thunderstorms, and some cooler temperatures."
"Probably a good chance of thundershowers with those, just because it's a good setup for thunderstorms, so be prepared for that, and behind it, just a lot of wind coming along with it as well."
The last 30-degree day may have already happened over the weekend, but Lang noted some days in September may heat up to summer warmth.
"It depends on what you call summer. Technically meteorological summer ends at the end of August, astronomical summer goes more to, the first day of fall is usually September 20th, 21st, or 22nd. So I'd be surprised if we didn't see more 30-degree temperatures by the end of astronomical summer."
