Stefan Daniel is in search of his third medal at the Paralympics that open tomorrow in Paris.
After years of preparation and success in the world circuit, the 27-year-old athlete competes in the para triathlon on Sunday.
Daniel's breakthrough silver medal performance at the 2016 Rio Paralympics landed Canada its first medal in para triathlon. He followed it up five years later with a bronze in Toyko.
Two other athletes make up Canada's para triathlete team. Kamylle Frenette, of Dieppe, NB, will be making her second appearance in the women’s PTS5 event. Winnipeg’s Leanne Taylor is set to make her Paralympic debut just five years after joining the sport.
Stefan Daniel is a five-time world champion and comes into the Paralympics ranked number one. He has had 59 career starts, winning an astounding 32 events and has hit the podium 45 times.
Prior to arriving in Paris, he wrapped up his training at the Banyoles, Spain staging camp.
Daniel attended junior high at St. Timothy's and swam with the Cochrane Comets at a young age.
