Right after the Labour Day Weekend Rodeo, Cochrane is being treated to a plenty of music, dance, art and food in its two Culture Days celebrations. (file photo)

Hot on the tracks of the Labour Day Weekend rodeo, Cochrane immediately swings into another full weekend of music, dance, classic cars and cultural showcases, and they're all free to attend.

The Cochrane Music Society has announced the Sept. 7 and 8 lineups for Culture Days and Culture Fest, organized by the Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee (CISC), is set to return on Sept. 7.

Culture Days performances begin at the Cochrane Farmers Market on Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Featured are performances by the Celtic band Drowsy Maggies, Stoney Mînî Thnî Dancers, the Japanese drumming of Midnight Taiko, and a demonstration by Ga-On Taekwondo Academy.

Balloons and Butterflies balloon twisters will be there creating fun balloon shapes for the kids and Imagine That YYC Face Painting will be happy to give them a new persona.

Sunday, it moves to the Centennial Plaza in the heart of the Historic Downtown and runs in conjunction with the Cochrane Classic Car Club's annual show ‘n’ shine.

Hitting the stage are Westwinds Summer Jazz, Cochrane Pipe Band, Six By Six, Fig Fusion, Melodic Mix and Canmore Traditional Jazz.

Balloons and Butterflies balloon twisters and Imagine That YYC Face Painting will be on hand to add to the festivity. 

Just across at tracks on the greenspace of The Station, Wazin Îchinabi Ti will be raising their tipi and displaying Indigenous art.

The largest-ever Culture Fest returns to the Cochrane Lions Event Centre (CLEC) on Sept. 7 from1 to 4 p.m. and is a feast of cultures from around the globe.

The cultures of 22 countries and the Stoney Nakoda First Nations will be on display. There's plenty of food samples, music and dance and offers a chance to learn more about their countries and cultures.

"It's a chance to be exposed to many different cultures, traditions, costumes and just opening up your eyes to what's out there in the world outside of Cochrane and Alberta," says Peter Lantos, of CISC.

Those at the display will be available to answer questions and fill you in on some of the details about their countries.

"They can fill you in on what's going on in their countries, politically, economically, what some of the tourist sites are... they can tell you all about it," says Lantos.

Represented are Australia, South Africa, Ghana, Jamaica, Netherlands, Venezuela, Honduras, Peru, Ukraine, India, Philippines, England, Ethiopia, Zambia, Nigeria, Stoney Nakoda, Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam, Argentina, Mexico, Serbia, and Chile.
