Not sure where to set up to watch the Labour Day Parade on Monday?
The Cochrane and Area Events Society has released a map of the new route, and where to find the pre-parade entertainment. It also highlights the location of the annual Cochrane Activettes pancake breakfast and where you can make donations to Helping Hands.
The biggest change is the elimination of Centre Ave. from the route. The shortened route adds additional focus to the Historic Downtown as a viewing area for families.
There will be no access over the railway tracks into the Historic Downtown. For access to areas south of River Ave., use Hwy. 22 to Griffin Rd.
With thousands of spectators lining the streets, organizers are also encouraging people to leave their pets at home. They ask people to stay along the sides of the route and not run out in front of the parade floats at any time.
Here are some key timelines to remember.
- 8 a.m. - Barricades go up and roads are closed.
- 8:30 a.m. - Cochrane Activettes pancake breakfast begins in Historic Downtown in the parking lot of the former location of Rexall.
- 9 a.m. - Pre-Parade Entertainment begins
- 10 a,m, - Parade begins
- Barricades will stay up until all floats have returned to the form up area. By 1 p.m., the parade will be over and roads re-opened.
Helping Hands will be onsite at the Free Food Shed in the St. Andrew's Church parking lot accepting food donations.
