The Town of Claresholm is allowing people to have fires again.

The Town took to Facebook to let people know that as of August 29th, the town is no longer under any Fire Advisory.

The Advisory was put in place on July 9th at 4 p.m., which limited what kinds of fires were allowed within town limits.

With the restriction lifted, fires are allowed around town again, but the Town is reminding people to use caution.

In order to make sure that backyard fire pits and fireplaces are safe and legal, the Town is asking residents to keep fires at least 10 feet from any building or property line or anything else flammable, keep fires supervised at all times by an adult, and keep the flames less than 90 cm above the fire pit.

Fire pits within town limits must be made of brick, concrete blocks, heavy-gauge metal, or any other non-combustible components, and they are asking for a mesh screen with openings less than 1/2 inch to be placed over the fire to contain sparks within the fire pit.

Even though fires are currently allowed in Claresholm, they do ask that people only burn clean, non-treated dry wood, charcoal, natural gas, or propane in their fire pit or fireplace.
