The Summer Lunch Program organized by the Weyburn Salvation Army served its last lunch of the summer on August 28th.

The program gave out free lunches for kids every weekday of the summer holidays. Community Ministry Worker at the Weyburn Salvation Army, Nicole Strickland, says up to a hundred kids were served every day. In total 3742 lunches were provided this summer.

“It's just nice to know that kids are well taken care of in the summer and don't have food insecurities. And it's also nice just to see the kids and see how they're making out in the summer. It's also a good social outing for the kids to come and get their lunch and talk to the other kids and hang out for a bit.”

Strickland expresses her appreciation to the sponsors and the Life Centre Church for the use of their kitchen for preparation, as well as the volunteers who helped prepare lunches.
