A series filmed partially in High River has just been announced as having won an award for outstanding locations.

According to the Location Managers Guild International (LMGI), Fargo (season five), which was shot in several Alberta locations including High River, was announced as the winner in the Oustanding Locations category.

"The Television Series winners were “Fallout” (filmed in Utah, New York and Namibia), “Fargo” (filmed in Alberta, Canada) and “Ripley” (filmed around Italy)," a news release from LMGI stated.

LMGI also awarded the Motion Picture awards to:

  • Oppenheimer filmed throughout New Mexico

"Toyota: “Present from the Past” (shot in Washington State) received the award for Outstanding Commercial, and Film in Iceland for “True Detective: Night Country” was awarded the Outstanding Film Commission Award," LMGI added.

LMGI added that the awards ceremony and reception were held at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills. The audience was 400, including LMGI members, industry executives, and the press.

"Actress and producer Rachael Harris, known for her roles in "Suits," "Diary of a Wimpy Kid," and "The Hangover," hosted the event."

The LMGI Awards honour international films, television shows, and commercials that creatively use filming locations to set the tone, enrich characters, and enhance storytelling.

Season five of Fargo is also up for 15 Emmy Awards, with the winners to be revealed on September 15, 2024.

High River recently hosted film crews from My Life with the Walter Boys, a Netflix series based on a novel that's currently in production on its second season.
