On Thursday (Aug. 29), the Okotoks Dawgs Baseball Club announced that a significant expansion to the Duvernay Fieldhouse is on the way.

There are two phases in which the fieldhouse will see improvements made.

"The expansion is set to proceed in two phases, Phase 1 being an expansion of the Dawgs' state-of-the-art weight and training room, which is anticipated to be completed later this fall, and Phase 2, an ambitious series of additional pitching and hitting lanes that will be designed to incorporate the latest in technology to promote peak athletic performance in the key baseball disciplines," the Dawgs said in a media release.

The new weight room is expected to be three times as big as the current size which will allow players to use additional equipment to progress their strength and conditioning programs. It will also give the players more space in training.

On top of that, there will be four new batting cages, each one being 80 feet long and 16 feet wide, and a Pitching Lab that will provide ample room for the players to work on their hitting mechanics.

"With this expansion, the Okotoks Dawgs Baseball Club continues to raise the bar in Canadian baseball, offering their players and staff a world-class environment in which to thrive," the Dawgs said in the release.
